Dear API users,

today we are happy to announce a new and exciting product, at least for
users in the Nordic countries. The Subseasonal service provides forecasts
for the next 21 days, for Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. You can read
more about the background on the met.no news archive (in Norwegian):

https://www.met.no/nyhetsarkiv/yr-far-21-dagervarsel

The API documentation, as well as the data model spec can be found in the
usual places:

https://docs.api.met.no/doc/subseasonal/datamodel

In other news, there was a lot of changes to the county and municipality
codes (fylkes/kommunenr) on 1 Jan 2024 due to the breaking up of the Viken
and Troms og Finnmark counties. The new codes were implemented on MetAlerts
on 15 Jan. You can find lists of changes, as well as the complete
authorative list on the following links:

https://www.regjeringen.no/no/tema/kommuner-og-regioner/kommunestruktur/nye-kommune-og-fylkesnummer-fra-1.-januar-2024/id2924701/

https://www.kartverket.no/til-lands/fakta-om-norge/norske-fylke-og-kommunar

We will also soon be launching a new beta version of MetAlerts, hopefully
with better search performance and functionality.

Finally, due to popular demand, the Aviationforecast IGA text forecasts will
not be discontinued after all, contrary to previous announcements.

That's all for new, wishing you a happy 2024 from all of us at MET Norway!

Geir Aalberg
API developer
